I've finally achieved a long-term ambition with the launch of a photography workshop for this coming autumn.
Workshops are like a combination of a teaching course and an adventure holiday, and they may last a single day, a weekend or perhaps a week or more. The aim of the workshop is to improve your own photography skills by learning from, and shooting alongside, a seasoned professional. There is a mixture of outdoor field trips to interesting locations, and indoor instruction sessions where you can discuss the practical and theoretical skills that go into taking a great picture.
The first workshop is close to my home in Enniscrone, County Sligo. It is a weekend course that will run from the evening of Friday 18th October to the afternoon of Sunday 20th October. This gives us the whole weekend to get deeply engrossed in the world of landscape photography. It's a chance to analyse the images you take, get answers to your technical questions, and open your mind to techniques and approaches you may not have previously considered.
During the weekend l hope to take the group to all sorts of wild nooks and crannies and to some of my favourite photo locations. The the exact itinerary is obviously weather dependant, but we're communing with the weather gods already to book some clear air, thundering Atlantic swell and vivid magic-hour light.
