Keem Strand, Mayo

I had explored Keem Strand, on Achill Island, numerous times before coming up with this shot. The problem was the number of components that make up the scene. If the sun was shining on the water, the details of the boulders were lost. Finally I settled on trying just before sunrise, when an even light was cast across the whole scene, and there was a hint of colour in the clouds. A wide-angle lens and low perspective allowed the rocks to take centre stage.
