Glacier Torre, Patagonia
Glaciers count amongst those natural wonders that combine extreme beauty with terrifying danger. The delicate, interlocking form of these seracs, on Glacier Torre in Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park, hide deep crevasses that would swallow a human. Glacier Torre itself is an offshoot of the great Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the second-largest extrapolar ice field in the world. I trod with care as I crossed the glacier with my camera, and used a telephoto lens to compose this shot.
