Fitz Roy Panorama, Patagonia
To me, this dawn skyline of Argentina's Fitz Roy massif highlights both the beauty and the extreme nature of Patagonian mountains. Fitz Roy itself was first climbed in 1952 by the celebrated French alpinists Lionel Terray and Guido Magnone, and is now considered an ultimate challenge for the world's best alpine climbers. The peak's sheer granite faces still combine with inclement weather to make successful ascents few and far between.
