Downpatrick Head, Mayo

Downpatrick Head is an exhilarating place to visit during a big north swell. The cliffs rise abruptly from the ocean floor, and as the waves crash into the base of the wall, they send up massive plumes of spray that drench anybody on the land above. Fortunately this evening the waves were rather smaller, and I was able to set up my tripod on the edge of the drop. As I watched, the sun dropped below the seastack of Dun Briste, leaving a perfect sun-star in its wake.
