Chamonix Aiguilles, French Alps
Part of the Mont Blanc massif, the Chamonix Aiguilles are a central constituent of the most famous skyline in the French Alps. This shot was taken one autumn, looking up from beneath the rock spires. The peaks had recently been dusted with the first snows of winter, but had been obscured from view all day. As the sun set, the cloud began to lift and swirl around the pinnacles, creating a magical natural light show.
