Autumn Colours, French Alps

Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons in the Alps, with the first snows offset by the rich colours of the mountain vegetation. This shot was taken in late October when uniform cloud cast a soft, even light, making the wet leaves glow with colourful vibrancy. I used a telephoto lens to isolate these Mountain Ash trees, which were growing from the cracks in a cliff overlooking a glacier.
