Glacier Piedras Blancas, Patagonia
Like many temperate mountain regions, autumn in Patagonia can be a stunning time. One of the most distinctive plants here is the Lenga tree, or Southern Beech, which turns beautiful colours in autumn. Though it grows up to 30m high at lower altitudes, the foot of this glacier in Los Glaciares National Park is the very limit of its territory. A wide-angle lens and overcast sky allowed the dwarf trees to register strongly in the composition.
